Kree finally found a Bible at the end of the row. She grabbed it, and as her hand touched, she could have sworn she heard a low growl-as if a wild animal felt threatened. The whole building shook, and she had to grab a hold of one of the bars to keep her balance.
She tucked the Bible under her arm as she exited the cage and went downstairs to help her family escape and face her demons.
The family, of course, was right where she left them. The woman, whom Kree guessed was Naomi, was now looking at her curiously.
Kree had only heard of one Jonathan, and the name "Naomi" was thrown in there somewhere with him.
Kree took the Bible from underneath her arm. "Stand back." she warned.
Naomi took Sarah's hand and stood as far back away from the door as she could without getting electrocuted from the other side. Kree took a deep breath, hoping and daring to pray that what she was about to do worked.
She chucked the Bible as fast as she could at the cage. Blue sparks flew everywhere. Blue light flashed on and off on the Bible. Kree fell down in awe.
The Bible flipped open, and the words showed up in blue. The Bible would stop flipping for a minute, point out certain verses and continue, leaving the words engraved on Kree's mind.
Finally, it stopped, and the Bible flew to the ground. Hardly anything remained of it, it was practically ash. There was no foul odor or anything.
