A few hours later, Kree collected flowers along her walk. She didn't care if they were someone ele's roses. She finally found what she was looking for.
There was a big circle of dirt where she knew the insane asylum was. She put the roses on the dirt and stood there for a minute, "I will miss you," she said softly, "All of you." she thought of Jimmy, and a tear rolled down her cheek.
As if she could be heard, a soft wind rustled past her, and she thought she heard a child's laughter.
With a small smile on her face, she slowly walked back home.

The End.
Kree drank greedily of the glass and looked at her mother, and all teh words came out at once, "There was this old house, and this boy, James..." she started rambling.
Her mother looked confused, "Kree, there was no house. You were found in the middle of the field...alone."
Kree stopped midsentence and looked at her parents, "But it was real!"
"Get some rest," her father said and kissed her forehead, "We will discuss this later." her parents slowly exited her bedroom and left her alone...
-Epilogue-

When Kree woke up, she realized that she was in her own soft bed. Her parents surrouned her with concerned looks on their faces. When they noticed that her eyes were open, her mother hugged her, and her dad said solemnly, "I thought we lost you." He had tears in his eyes.
Kree wanted to ask for water, but her mouth felt like sandpaper, and she started coughing.
Kree's mom got the hit and quickly grabbed a glass of water off of her bedside table.

Kree gulped, wondering what she got herself into now. She lifted up the sword and looked at it. The letters on the sword were bright blue with the name, "Uriel" on the handle.
Just holding the sword made her feel stronger as she looked at Legion, "Come on. Attack, you coward!"
Legion growled as he ran towards her. She ducked as she held the sword above her head, and it slashed his arm. The big Legion seemed to crumble as all the little demons came at her. She held the sword up and started reciting the Lord's Prayer.
A blue light flashed all around her, and she heard screaming coming from above her. She slowly raised her head. Demons were bursting into flame and then disappearing in front of her eyes.
When they were all gone, a brilliant light came, and Kree closed her eyes. "It's okay now, child. Rest and peace be with you."
Kree passed out...
She looked into the eyes. That was the worst mistake of all. Everyone knows that the eyes are the key to the soul.
She saw fire in his eyes-fire and pain...and sorrow? Along with teh anger and hatred. It overwhelmed her and made her weaker.
There was a strong light-like Kree had never seen before. Legion screamed as teh smaller demons hid back in his carcass.
"Where there is light, there is no darkness." a sing-song voice said.
Legion dropppped Kree ont eh ground and shrank to the shadows. He hissed ominously. The light came closer to Kree. Kree was in awe, but she was still choking, holding her throat.
The light was upon her, and Kree felt warm. She felt like everything was going to be okay.
"Your faith must not be weakened, Kree." the voice whispered, but inside her head, it was strong, putting faith in her that Kree, herself, could now feel.
Her hands slid away from her throat. Kree did not realize that she was not choking anymore.
Something fell into her hands, and she looked down, "A sword?"
"It's been blessed," the light said, "Keep heart, Kree, keep heart." the light said as it slowly disappeared.
She slowly stood up. She wasn't the only one, though. Legion also stood up. He was smirking at her, "Your God gives you a sword against me? Funny how God sends a weakling like you to fight his battles."
Instead of fear, Kree was feeling annoyed, "Oh shut up and get on with it already."
Legion did not like her tone of voice and started circling her with a bunch of demon eyes looking at her from his stomach and chest.

Sunday, April 14, 2013

In front of her was standing a huge demon, the size of the floor to the ceiling of the insane asylum. he was naked with big broken wings. The width was so long, Kree could quickly see that an escape would be impossible.
But what was even more disturbing was the fact that the ribs, the heart, everything was showing inside the demon. Inside the big, huge demon were a bunch of small little demons that almost looked like bats.
Kree took a step back. It suddenly seemed perfectly clear that Kree was going to die.
Legion laughed harder, "Scared now, are we, Kree?"
Kree knew that pretending not to be afraid was not going to matter. She was going to have to fight him anyway, but how?
She looked around. There was nothing. She was up against a wall-not even by the cells. There was nothing she could do, but pray.
"God, help me." she pleaded as the demons exited the core of Legion and flew around her.
The big Legion threw her against the wall, and Kree heard a crack as her head slammed against the all. She felt lightheaded as she lifted her head off the ground.
"God is not here." Legion growled angrily as he grabbed her off the ground by her throat.
Kree grabbed the hand that was around her throat. She could also feel the demons biting at her flesh.
They are eating me alive! Kree thought to herself.
-Chapter 7-

Kree walked slowly, looking around the darkened halls. she didn't think that the Bible she had found earlier would work with a hole in it, but then she wondered if the Bible would work at all.
"Jimmy isn't going to be easy to kill. He is younger, so he is a lot stronger." Naomi's words kept ringing inside her head.
Kree realized how stupid she was to be going into the war zone without a plan. However, planning strategy seemed useless against demonic ghosts.
She sniffed. The air smelled like sulfur, and she knew that whether or not she was ready, the war was on.
A green mist appeared, and Kree could barely recognize Jimmy, "What happened to you?" she whispered.
"I grew up," he laughed, "You can join me, Kree, and together, we can rule the world."
Kree raised an eyebrow, "In an insane asylum?"
"Don't you get it, you fool?" he growled, "This isn't Jimmy-at least not the Jimmy you know. This is Legion."
"Well, I've heard of demon possessed people, but never demon possessed souls." Kree countered as her heart started beating harder. She remembered all the horror  movies she watched with Legion in them, and they never ended pretty.
Part of the mist moved forward, and Kree guessed that it was a hand. It lightly touched her face, and Kree jerked back quickly. "Afraid, are we?" he laughed-again.
"No," Kree hardened her expression and closed her eyes, "By the power of the Son of God, I command you to leave." she yelled.
There was a scream and a ripping sound-light from the sky shooting in through the window, and it was gone. Well, the spirit was.

"Yeah, but-" Kree started, but stopped, not really sure how put her feelings into words.
"But Jimmy befriended you. He was a sweet boy when he first met you. But he's not a boy anymore. He now knows what it means to be a man. He chose his path, and you chose yours. He is no longer your friend."
Kree felt a cold wind, and along with the wind, she heard the words, "She's right."
Kree mentally hardened herself. In a matter of seconds, she almost felt completely numb. "You're right," her voice sounded neutral, and even she knew that she didn't sound like herself, "I must finish him in order to go home."
Sarah came out from behind her mother's skirts and looked at Kree, "You will do fine." she whispered and hugged Kree as she could without going through her.
Kree a cold chill go up and down her body, almost like an electric feeling. She nodded, but couldn't find the words to speak.
"Jimmy isn't going to be as easy to kill," Naomi said," He is younger, so he is a lot stronger. Soon, you will be facing head on with this demon," she paused and took a deep breath, "There's a possibility...that you might not make it out alive."
One lonely tear escaped Kree's eye, "Then so be it." her lips tightened, and she turned and walked away. She refused to look back, even though she knew that it would be her last time to see Naomi, Sarah, and Molly...
For a minute, it looked like Jonathan was going to be sick, and the mist turned different shades of blue, green, and red. Suddenly, a bright light cut in the middle of the mist and cut Jonathan in half.
His screaming echoed off the wall as he burst into flames and disappeared.
Kree was gasping on the ground, holding onto her throat. She was trying to breath, and her throat felt like there were bruises on it.
She fell even more to the ground a s she heard a childish voice ringing in her head, "See...I told you that everything would be okay." a light giggle.
"Who are you?" Kree gasped out in pain.
"I am Gerella-an angel of the Lord."
Just before she closed her eyes, Kree could see the baby face of Sarah with the halo above her. "Don't leave me." she whispered.
"You're fine," the angel knelt beside her, "but you're not done." She put her hand to Kree's forehead, and Kree felt renewed energy.
Kree sat up and leaned against the wall, "What do you mean I'm not done?" Kree looked at the angel.
"Jimmy..."
"Oh..." Kree was disappointed. She was really hoping that it would not come to this.
The angel nodded, "Do not lose heart, Kree. This is just the way it is. Finish him, and you will be done."
"But we're related." Kree had tears in her eyes.
"You were related with Jonathan, but you didn't hesitate with him." Gerella pointed out.
She closed her eyes and took a deep breath. Slowly, she said the one verse that came to mind as Jonathan raised his hand to strike again:

The Lord is my shepherd;
I shall not want.
He maketh me to lie down in green pastures:
He restoreth my soul:
He leadeth me to in the paths of righteousness
for his name's sake.

Jonathan started screaming as he started to fade in and out. He tried to back away, but he seed rooted to the spot.

Yea, though I walk through the valley
of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil
for thou art with me,
thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.
Thou preparest a table before me in the
presence of mine enemies thou anointest my
head with oil; my cup runneth over.

Jonathan growled as he threw her against the wall and started choking. Kree choked the words out with a lot of effort:

Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the
days of my life and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.

Psalm 23 (kjv)
-Chapter 6-

Kree walked slowly up the stairs. The sound her footsteps made were eerie and were the only sounds that could be heard.
It was way too dark for her to see, and Kree held on to the banister tightly as she felt her way to the next story.
As much as she hated to give out her own whereabouts, she needed to turn on the light so she could see. "Now I almost wish that I was a ghost." she whispered to herself, knowing full well that ghosts could see in the dark.
She looked at the ground. What she was looking for was hard to find, because of all the debris that was on the ground from her fight with Jonathan. Dust flew in the air, and Kree coughed for a minute.
"Aw, here it is." Kree smiled as she picked up the Bible and held it tightly to her chest.
She looked up just in time to see a bright green light fly at her. It hit her with so much force that she flew across the room and hit the room wall really hard.
She lay on the ground, trying to find the air that was knocked out of her. She slowly stood up and picked up the Bible. She noticed that there was a huge hole in the Bible as she looked through it to see the mist of Jonathan.
He laughed, and the whole building shook, "Where is your God now?"
Kree didn't respond at first, since she was still staring at the Bible. She knew it was not hopeless, and she had an inner calm that she could not explain.

Sunday, March 31, 2013

Hours later, Kree opened her eyes. It was still dark-no sunlight or anything.
Naomi was standing right above her and stepped backwards as Kree slowly sat up, "How long have I been out?''
"For two days." Naomi said gently. She flinched, already knowing that Kree would not be happy with this information.
"Two days?! My parents are going to be so worried!" Kree said as she started hyperventilating.
"Um...no offense, dear, but I think they would have already been worried when you were here the first night."
Kree looked around, "Where is Sarah? Is she okay?"
Naomi looked confused, "She's right here. Of course she's okay."
Kree looked at Sarah, who was still hiding behind her mother's skirts. However, she looked at Kree with curiosity. "You saved my life." Kree said, slowly standing and then kneeling to Sarah's level, "Thank you."
Naomi took a step forward, "What are you talking about? She was with me the whole time."

Thursday, March 28, 2013

Sarah suddenly appeared out of nowhere, "Sarah, what are you doing?! Get out of here!" Kree managed to choke out the words. She coughed harder, the smoke burning her lungs.
"Everything is going to be okay." she said. It almost didn't sound like her. Her voice was too calm and full of certainty, and there was a halo of light around her head that was not fire.
There wasn't much more time for thought as she closed her eyes and drifted off to sleep...

Monday, March 25, 2013

"How does it feel to be betrayed?" there was the voice again, but Kree did not know where it was coming from.
Kree's heart was pounding even faster as a tear rolled down her cheek. "Jimmy..." her voice was just a whisper now.
The betrayal cut deep, but she knew that she could not focus on terrible friends at the moment. She had to focus on saving herself.
She felt herself become angry, "You have no place here!"
the laugh was a hideous screeching sound that made Kree's ears ring. "I don't belong here? Kree, You are the visitor."
"You belong in hell." Kree said angrily.
"Well, I'll see you there." Jonathan said as the room lit on fire. He cackled again, and then the voice was gone.
"Wait! Oh my gosh, don't leave me here!" Kree screamed. She inhaled some of the smoke and started coughing.
The flames were getting closer and closer, and Kree's eyes started getting wider and wider, "Somebody help me!" she screamed even louder.
This must have been what Naomi meant. The thought crossed Kree's mind. Kree knew that she was starting to get delusional.
She started seeing demon faces in the fire, and screaming souls begging for a drop of water. Tears were streaming down Kree's face, and she tried to look away, but couldn't.
She saw Jonathan's face getting bigger and bigger in the fire, but he was sneering at her, "Is this what you mean by hell, princess? You have no idea what hell is like!" Suddenly sparks flew at Kree, causing the bed to catch on fire.
Kree screamed again. Sweat was forming on her brow as she stared at the flames that was quickly making its way towards her legs.

Friday, March 22, 2013

Kree woke up to a splitting headache. What the hell? she thought to herself, but then it all came flooding back.
Kree groaned and tried to sit up. She couldn't.
Kree gasped as she tried to figure out why she couldn't move. She moved her head to the right then to the left. Her body was bound from the neck down.
She could hear laughter in the distance, but she didn't know from which direction. "Help!" she screamed, but she knew that no one would or could.
She fought against the chains that were hiding her down, but she couldn't. They were wound around her too tightly.
Jimmy came through the door. He was hesitant, almost like he didn't want to be there.
"Jimmy, you have to help me." Kree pleaded.
Jimmy slowly shook his head and looked around like he was afraid, "I...I can't," he stammered, "Please understand."
Kree looked at him, "No, I don't understand. You have to let me go!"
Jimmy shook his head, "He will hurt me."
Kree pushed against the chains once again to no avail. She had tears in her eyes, "Jimmy...don't leave me here...please..."
Jimmy was slowly backing towards the door. He kept saying, "I'm sorry." he had pain in written in his eyes, and Kree screamed all the more.
He slowly shook his head, turned around, and left the room. Kree screamed after him, but he didn't come back.
Kree cried even more, feeling more alone than ever.
-Chapter 5-

Kree honestly had no clue as to how to find this evil mist. He seemed to show up randomly at will, taking his prey by surprise, and then attacking them before even they knew what was going on.
Kree kept walking down the hallways. It was dark, and she couldn't see anything in front of her. She stumbled and held onto the door of one of the cages for support.
The air around her suddenly turned really cold. her breath was showing, and the hair on the back of her neck stood on end.
"Kree..." Kree could hear her name being called, almost as if the wind was whispering her name.
She spun around quickly, and lost her footing. She fell on the concrete floor. She yelped in pain, but then stared at the green mist in awe. It was in the shape of a face, and it was sneering at her, "You must die."
"No!" Kree said stubbornly as she stood up.
The mist laughed, "You don't have a choice in the matter."
Kree stood up even straighter as she pulled out the Bible. Jonathan gasped as he slowly backed away a few feet and hissed.
"Get back," Kree said triumphantly, "I have a weapon, and I'm not afraid to use it!"
Jonathan growled in the back of his throat and hissed once again. He backed away a little further as Kree stepped forward threateningly.
The mist disappeared in front of her eyes slowly. Finally, it was gone, and Kree breathed a sigh of relief, only to be pushed from behind!
She fell forward too fast to catch herself. She hit her head on the concrete...

Monday, March 18, 2013

The door burst open, and Naomi looked at it in shock. She told Sarah to wait and hold Molly, so she could see if it was safe to come out of the prison cell.
She slowly walked out-without getting electrocuted. She nodded at Sarah that she and Molly could come out now.
Sarah was more hesitant. Years of abuse had made her wary, even her mom made it out okay. Kree's heart ached, but she ignored it.
Now that Jimmy's family was okay, she didn't know what to do. She knew that she had to face off with Jonathan, but where the hell was the coward?
Kree also knew that she needed to find Jimmy. Despite Naomi being able to let this one go. Something was telling her that he was not supposed to make the rash decision of leaving his family to the wolves.
Naomi didn't seem to be indecisive. Naomi didn't have to say anything, Kree understood. On one hnad, Naomi wanted to help Kree defeat Jonathan, but on the other, she had a small child and an infant, who had no one else in the world to take care of them in case of defeat.
"You stay here. This is something I have to do on my own."Kree said as reassurance.
Naomi still looked unsure, but relief was also visible in her eyes, "Alright," she nodded, "But be very careful, and, whatever you do, don't underestimate him."
Kree nodded as she walked away and wondered how the hell she'd be able to underestimate a demon...
Kree finally found a Bible at the end of the row. She grabbed it, and as her hand touched, she could have sworn she heard a low growl-as if a wild animal felt threatened. The whole building shook, and she had to grab a hold of one of the bars to keep her balance.
She tucked the Bible under her arm as she exited the cage and went downstairs to help her family escape and face her demons.
The family, of course, was right where she left them. The woman, whom Kree guessed was Naomi, was now looking at her curiously.
Kree had only heard of one Jonathan, and the name "Naomi" was thrown in there somewhere with him.
Kree took the Bible from underneath her arm. "Stand back." she warned.
Naomi took Sarah's hand and stood as far back away from the door as she could without getting electrocuted from the other side. Kree took a deep breath, hoping and daring to pray that what she was about to do worked.
She chucked the Bible as fast as she could at the cage. Blue sparks flew everywhere. Blue light flashed on and off on the Bible. Kree fell down in awe.
The Bible flipped open, and the words showed up in blue. The Bible would stop flipping for a minute, point out certain verses and continue, leaving the words engraved on Kree's mind.
Finally, it stopped, and the Bible flew to the ground. Hardly anything remained of it, it was practically ash. There was no foul odor or anything.
"He may be dead, but he still has to find his own way in this world."
"How is that possible? You guys are stuck in an insane asylum."
The woman smiled sadly, "What I mean is-he has to make his own decisions."
Kree nodded, "But then we have two people fighting against us instead of one."
"He hasn't made his decision yet. He is lost on why we won't use all the resources to get what we want. In many ways, he is exactly like his father. He will do anything to protect his family."
Kree nodded. She was stuck on what to do, and without Jimmy to help her, she was even more at a loss...or was she?
She took a minute to think about it. Yes, they were surrounded by evil books but maybe there were good books? Good books...the Bible. Kree gasped at the sudden thought.
Kree left the family without explaining herself and found the stairs. She slowly walked up the stairs. She cringed inwardly, because each step echoed, one after another after another.
However, her worry was in vain, because there was no one on the second story, and no one was following her, about ready to kill her.
She sighed with relief as she looked in each of the cages. She couldn't believe her eyes. It was harder than she thought it would be to find the Bible. Weren't most crazy people into religion? But she knew that she had seen one in her earlier adventure, so she kept looking...

Friday, March 15, 2013

Jimmy looked at the cage with sadness in his eyes. He had been through so much, and it hurt Kree that she couldn't help much. Seeing the family look at each other like this made her want to go home even more to be with her own mom and dad.
Jimmy looked at Kree, "Maybe the books can-"
"No!" Kree said firmly.
"But this is my family." Jimmy argued.
"Don't you see?" Kree was exasperated, "You are starting to become like your father."
Jimmy had pain and anger in his eyes, "I will never become like my father."
"She's right, Jimmy," the woman said gently, "You are relying on those evil books to help us out of our situations. That's exactly what he wants."
"How could you say that, ma?" Jimmy's voice cracked.
Jonathan locked you in with the books, dear," his mother's voice held all the sorrow a mother could have for her son, "He obviously wanted you to use them just as he had once upon a time."
Jimmy stepped forward angrily, "I am not my father!" he looked like he was about to slap Kree, and Kree cringed. Jimmy hesitated in shock and slowly backed away.
A tear rolled down the woman's face, "And you are no longer my son."
Jimmy took another step back. Then he turned around and ran away. Kree was about to run after him, but the woman said, "Stop."
Kree turned towards her, confused.
Kree slowly walked to the door and saw that it was wide open. She smiled for what seemed like the first time in days, "Come on. Let's get out of here."
Both Kree and Jimmy exited the room and heaved a sigh of relief, but it was short-lived.
Jonathan had put all of Jimmy's family into a cage. It was no ordinary cage. The bars were electric. If they so much as grazed it, it was torture.
"And I thought that just living in an insane asylum for eternity was torture." Kree murmured as she looked at the bars.
Jimmy didn't notice that the bars of the cage were electric and grabbed a hold of the bars on the door. His spirit immediately turned a brilliant blue, and his screams echoed off the walls.
Kree gasped and looked around. She didn't know if it would work, because he was a spirit, but she threw a brick at him, expecting it to go through him. It didn't.
Instead, the brick hit Jimmy in the side, causing him to let go. Jimmy laid there, unconscious, and Kree looked at the family, "Where is he?"
The woman stepped forward, "No one even knows where he goes. But he is gone...for now."
Kree nodded her head and bit her lower lip in concentration. She looked at Jimmy, who was slowly waking up.
She looked back at the family. Sarah was in a corner with her legs hugged close to her chest. She was frightened.
Kree had a tear roll down her cheek, "I don't know what to do."
Jimmy sat up, holding his side, "Ow."
Kree smiled, "Man, throwing that brick made me feel better."
Chapter 4

After a few hours, Kree's stomach started growling, because she was hungry. She tried to ignore her stomach, but it was becoming increasingly difficult.
It did not take long for Jimmy to catch on to Kree's discomfort, "man, it's not so bad being a ghost, but I sure do miss them home cooked meals. We used to have roast beef, mashed potatoes..."
"Okay!" Kree stood up,  "Let's look at the books."
Jimmy smiled as he hopped up to look at the spell books. Kree hesitated before she touched another one. The lettering on this one turned a bright red.
Kree cringed from the heat radiating off of the page:

Taomo De Lo
Complimento
Se Lax.

She whispered the words, and they heard a click...

Tuesday, March 5, 2013

Kree looked around again, and then went to the door, "Well, this is strange..."
"What?" Jimmy walked over to her.
"There is no actual lock on the door. We are being locked in here by a spell."
"See...and we have all these spell books to help us, but you refuse to use them."
"And I still do." Kree said, folding her arms.
"Fine. Then I guess we will spend eternity in here."
"That is fine by me." Kree said as she sat down in one of the stairs...

Kree stood up and walked over to the book that Jimmy had just stood by. She slowly ran her hands along the lettering. The words glowed a blue. She looked up at Jimmy, "What did you say?"
"I...don't know." Jimmy admitted.
Kree became angry, "You don't know?! What-are you stupid?!"
Jimmy was feeling defensive, "He was killing you, and the book randomly flipped to the page, so I thought"
"That you would just read what a book of Satan had to say? Do you realize that you could have just given yourself over to Satan?"
"But I'm already dead..." Jimmy argued.
"That doesn't matter. He can still take you." Kree said.
"Well, I'm still here."
Kree sighed in exasperation, "Come on. Let's try to figure a way out of here."
Jimmy started looking through books. Kree glared at him, "Have you learned nothing? Obviously those books are nothing but trouble."
"Well, this place revolves around them, so maybe they could help."
"Oh yeah-just like they helped your dad. Thanks, but I'll pass."
Jimmy sighed as he walked away from the books, "Then what do you suggest?"

Chapter 3

Jimmy froze from fear as he saw the color draining from Kree's face, "Kree!" he yelled out, but it wasn't making James stop.
Jimmy didn't know what to do. James was a stronger spirit than he was. He looked around the room.
He noticed the pages in one of the book was flipping. He went to see what page it landed on. It looked like a spell. Without really knowing what the spell did, he started reading the strange language on the page out loud:

Xi Mi Queato Moi
Dung Tao Soy
Femo Kantasa Roi
Ango Juy Foy

All of a sudden, Jimmy heard a scream, and he looked up. A blue flame was flaring all around the mist. THe mist slowly disappeared, and its place was the person, James Wilbur. Burnt flesh was falling to the floor, and he had blisters all over his body. His skin was melting. His eyes seemed to be popping out of his skull as he kept screaming. Finally, he disappeared, leaving the smell of decaying flesh behind him.
Kree slowly stood up as she started breathing heavily. Color was slowly returning to her skin, but she still looked pale. Jimmy ran over to her, "Kree, are you okay?"
Kree slowly nodded her head as she ran her hands up and down her arms, trying to gain back some feeling.
"How about we don't piss off anymore ghosts?" Jimmy said looking around the room.

"A bunch of books-"
"Devil books!" James growled.
"Well, yeah, but it doesn't quite tell the whole story." Kree was no longer scared. In fact, she was getting irritated with this illiterate freak.
James looked off into the distance, "It happened so long ago, I can barely remember..."
"Well, you had over a hundred years to think about it, so try."
"Kree...I wouldn't piss him off if I were you." Jimmy's voice was small, and Kree held up her hand to silence him.
"I remember that it happened on a Sunday. I was on my way to church. I was riding in a buggy when I suddenly had stop my horse. Something in the middle of the road had caught my eye. I ran over to it, and found out that it was a book. However, when I read the cover, I was about to run to my buggy and never look back. But I hesitated. Stopping for one minute had ruined the rest of my life."
"Then what happened?" Kree asked, almost sounding sympathetic, but not quite.
"It called my name," he said. Even though it had already happened, his voice still held the awe from when he first saw the book, "It said that I was chosen."
"Good for you. You were chosen to stay in an insane asylum for a hundred years. Sounds like fun." Kree said sarcastically.
James' eyes grew a bright red, and the mist flew over Kree. KRee felt icy cold fingers all over her skin, like needles touching every part of her body. She struggled to breathe as she stared into the eyes of a sadistic killer. Was this what it was like to die?

Friday, February 22, 2013

Jimmy went up and tried to go through the trapdoor, "It's not working." he called down to her.
"Try harder!" Kree said as sweat was forming on her brow. She looked around. The light had considerably dimmed, and in the darkened room, she could see...two bright eyes!
Kree screamed and backed up, hitting her head on the wall. She felt something warm and sticky running down the back of her head, and she felt lightheaded.
A figure was emerging out of the darkness, "Who dares to disturb my slumber?"
Kree's heart was pounding, and she looked at the mist with red eyes. It was panting like an animal, and it almost didn't seem human.
Kree slowly stood up. Her head was pounding-like a jackhammer was being used to tear apart her skull, but she ignored the pain as best as she could. She flinched and looked at the figure in the eyes, "Mr. James Wilbur?"
The mist slowly backed up in surprise, "No one has said my name in a hundred years."
"A hundred years?" Kree turned to look at Jimmy, who shrugged his shoulders.
"Yep, in 1913, died of a heart attack, I did-or at least that what all them church folk thought." he laughed, and it turned into a nasty cough.
"So what really happened?" Kree asked, too curious to be afraid anymore.
James looked at her, "Are you stupid? Do you not see what you are surrounded by?"
Kree looked around, "I don't think he did."
"What do you mean? I've almost lived here for a hundred years and never saw the guy."
"Yeah, but how often did you come down here?"
Jimmy snapped his mouth shut and thought for a minute, "You have a point..."
"Not only that, but this dude seems pretty close to Satan. He could have been watching you the whole time, and you would have never known. In fact, he could be watching us right now." Kree looked around once again.
Jimmy had an uncontrollable shudder, "Will you stop? I think I'm scared enough, thank you very much."
"What? Just telling the truth," Kree shrugged her shoulders, "Besides, if you are so scared, then why don't you go upstairs and hide behind mommy's skirts?"
Jimmy looked offended and then held his head high, "I am just fine. Besides, I need to take care of you."
Kree looked at him with a raised eyebrow, "Don't take this personally, but I don't think you have a chance."
Suddenly, they heard something on top of the staircase. They both ran to see what was going on.
They saw the mist at the opening of the trapdoor. It may have been only a mist, but Kree could have sworn she saw a smile right before it closed the trapdoor.
"What do we do now?" Jimmy's voice squeaked.
"Well, you can go through doors, can't you?" Kree was starting to breathe heavily. She was claustrophobic, and being around the smell of the musty scent of the books was not helping.

Monday, February 18, 2013

Kree flipped through several Satanist books, "I don't understand."
"What don't you understand?" Jimmy asked, following her a little bit too closely for Kree's liking.
She moved away, further away from Jimmy and said, "The reason why your father came here in the first place was because he was overtaken by a demon."
"So..."
"So, he was already overcome by a demon, why would all these books be here? Wouldn't this library be in his own house?"
Jimmy was confused, "My dad only owned one book."
Kree's brow furrowed, "Then whose books are these?"
"I don't know? Can we please get out of here? This place gives me the creeps."
"No. This is where we are won going to be getting some answers, so just chill." Kree said as she cleared a chair of books and dust and sat down.
Jimmy looked around slowly, gulped, and sat down.
Kree looked in the front of one of the books, "This book belong to James Wilbur."
Jimmy's head snapped up, "James Wilbur?"
"Yeah...who is he?"
"He was the deacon at our church. At least he was for two years."
'What happened?"
"I don't really know...I mean, he suddenly won a lot of money after a twenty year losing streak and bolted for about two years. Then he came back and became a security guard for this insane asylum. In fact, he died here of a heart attack. I have never seen him here, though. He must have moved on."
Year: 1922
Date                      Name              In               Out
01/02/1922        Chris Tangle       1:30 pm     3:00 pm
The list continued in that manner in the data book. Kree flipped to the very last entry in the book:

Date                     Name                          In               Out
10/31/1922         Margaret Winters         1:00 pm
10/31/1922         Jimmy Winters             1:00 pm
10/31/1922         Sarah Winters              1:00 pm
10/31/1922         Molly Winters              1:00 pm
Kree, of course, recognized the family's name, but she also noticed that there was no "out" time.
She looked at Jimmy with a raised eyebrow, "You showed up at an insane asylum on Halloween?"
Jimmy looked a bit sheepish, "We thought nothing of it, because we didn't celebrate Halloween. We were really religious."
"Your religion certainly got you out of this mess, didn't it?" Kree rolled her eyes as she continued to look around.
Then she had a thought and looked up, "Wait, didn't he say that someone in the family survived? Who else was there?"
"My older brother," Jimmy sighed, "He refused to come, despite how much mom begged him to. He was angry at my dad." Jimmy sounded bitter.
"Well, it happened to be his saving grace," Kree murmured, "Perhaps even yours."

Thursday, February 14, 2013

Kree slowly walked. Jimmy followed her at a distance, but left her alone. Kree needed to think. Her heart was pounding from adrenaline, and she was looking for anything that could be used as a weapon.
She turned around and looked at Jimmy, "Are there any rooms that I don't know about?"
Jimmy thought for a minute, "There's the library."
Kree raised an eyebrow, "Why does an insane asylum need a library?"
Jimmy shrugged his shoulders, "It probably wasn't needed for the insane asylum. That's probably why it's hidden."
"A hidden library? Take me to it." Kree demanded.
Jimmy led her though a small closet-like room that was by the waiting room. He picked up a couple files, and Kree could see an opening where a staircase was. She looked at Jimmy, and then slowly descended the staircase.
Jimmy followed like a lost puppy. She didn't know why. It wasn't like he was going to help her or be able to help her if there was anything scary downstairs.
Kree reached the bottom and searched along the wall for a light switch. Finally finding one, she turned it on. The light was a dim light bulb hanging from the ceiling.
Kree looked around. There were book everywhere-lining bookcases, on desks, covering the floor...
Kree went over to a random book that was the closest to her. She blew some of the dust off of it, "All About Satanism?"
Kree looked at a few more book before coming to the realization that all of them were either about Satanism, witches, magicv, or demons/Satan. Almost all of them.
Kree went to the desk and noticed that there were some data books.
"It progressively grew worse," the mother cut in, "He started hitting us. If his day ended terribly, he would blame us. His anger issues soon led him to lose his job. He blamed me the most."
"Don't forget about the drinking, mamma." the little girl tugged on her mother's dress.
"Of course, Sarah," the woman smiled lovingly at her daughter, and then frowned, "He drank...a lot."
Kree didn't know how an abusive drunk was now an evil mist floating about an insane asylum, "Okay..."
The baby started crying again, and the woman rocked it back and forth, "Sh...Molly."
Jimmy sighed in exasperation, "Don't you get it?! This man was a loving father and husband, and then all of a sudden, he changed. He turned into what we just described. This spirit...he took him over."
Kree gulped, "Well, it was nice knowing you. See you in the afterlife." she walked away.
Jimmy walked in front of her, "You're locked in, remember? You're in this with us, whether you like it or not." there was triumph in his voice, but the sadness was still in his eyes.
Kree sighed, "I can't do this. I can't be be some kind of hero."
"You have no choice," Jimmy said quietly, "He wants a challenge. Obviously, you are strong enough for that challenge."
"Why? Because I'm alive?"
"Not only that. You are  related to us. You are stronger than you realize."
Kree looked around the dim building, and she looked at her family. Her heart sank. She didn't want to die, but she wouldn't have that choice, unless she fought.

Sunday, February 10, 2013

That outburst took Kree by surprise, but she looked at Jimmy angrily, "You knew that we were related, didn't you?"
Jimmy lowered his eyes in shame, and Kree continued, "So this whole, 'I don't know why you are here, but you're here for a reason' was all bullshit!" Kree yelled. She didn't normally curse, but she figured with the way things were turning out here, it was a good time to start.
Jimmy flinched, "I'm sorry-"
"And what did he mean that a spirit took over him?" Kree folded her arms and looked at him expectantly.
Jimmy sighed, "My dad used to be normal...and greedy like everyone else at the time. That's when it started..."
Kree found a chair and sat down, "How did it start?" she folded her legs.
"He found a book...the book of Satan. It had man curses, and one of the them was a get-rich scheme."
"He sold his soul to the devil?" Kree gasped.
Jimmy nodded, and the family looked down in shame, "Sure enough, he got unexplainable riches. We were living like a royal family, but it came at a great cost," Jimmy coughed and then continued, "We all became very paranoid. We secluded ourselves, because we had believed that our friends were out to get us for our money. We rarely left the hosue, unless we needed food. Even then, we would usually have one servant do it all for us."
Kree nodded, "Then what happened?"
"He went crazy. We didn't really notice at first, because it started small-he would forget where he put his glasses. He started mumbling to himself. Things like that."
Jonathan laughed, "Learn to shut your mouth, woman."
Kree stepped forward, "Leave them alone!"
The mist seemed to do 180 to look at her, "A brave, but very stupid soul to challenge me?"
"Um...well..." Kree said nervously, but then stood up straighter, "Yes."
Jonathan laughed again, "You don't know who I am, do you, my sweet?"
"No, I mean, no offense, but how old are you-like 1000?" Kree folded her arms.
Jonathan took her by surprise when he started laughing again, "Close enough. I'm the spirit who rested in your great grandfather."
"Great grandfather?" Kree stopped to think for a minute, "But that means-"
"That one of the family escaped." the mist growled.
Kree slowly backed away, "No, this is just too weird."
Jimmy looked at her, "Please, you need to help us. We are your family."
Kree looked at all of them. Jonathan laughed, "You don't stand a chance against me. You will spend the rest of your earthly and eternal life with me." he laughed as he disappeared.
The woman was finally fully recovered and caught her breath. Kree was almost as pale as her ghost family. She didn't say anything at first.
Kree finally sighed, "We are all doomed."
Jimmy looked at her angrily, "No! Don't say that! Only you can make the decision for us all to be doomed!"

Tuesday, February 5, 2013

"So I'm dead?" Kree's voice squeaked.
"No," the woman cracked a smile for the first time, "But it means that someone brought you in, and if it wasn't us..."
"It was me." a voice said from behind Kree.
The hair on the back of Kree's neck stood on end as she slowly turned around, but there was no one there. However, there was a huge mist, "What the hell?"
There was an ominous laugh that felt like an extremely cold wind surrounding the room. The whole room was tense with fear and the feeling of defeat. The mist moved closer, and Kree moved back with the ghost family.
"I am not only Jonathan Winters, I'm his very essence."
"Jonathan Winters..." Kree said slowly. It felt like she knew him or heard of him, but she couldn't remember for the life of her.
"You are not my Jonathan at all. You're nothing but evil." the wife stepped forward. The mist moved past Kree and over the wife. The air seemed to be sucked out of her, and she seemed to be suffocating, even though she was already a ghost.
For some reason, the torture did not seem to affect the bundle too much. However, the baby soon started crying, having being bothered awake by the torture.
Kree's original question of how ghosts could be tortured was happening right in front of her eyes The mist pushed the woman back, and she fell to the ground, struggling to breathe for another minute. Each minute that passed, she grew paler and paler, until she was almost invisible. The mist took a few steps back, and the woman started to appear slowly, before her eyes.

Chapter 2

The way was dark, but Jimmy seemed to light the way somehow, and that helped.
It was way too quiet, but pretty soon, Kree could hear some whispering. She gasped and took a step back. There were more...ghosts. They didn't look angry-just tired and abused. Kree wondered briefly how ghosts could be tortured before she took a step forward.
It was obvious that the woman was Jimmy's mom. Jimmy looked so much like her. She looked fragile, like she would break if Kree touched her.
There was a little mousy looking girl. She had long brown and tangled hair and brown eyes. She hid behind her mommy fearfully.
Lastly, Kree noticed that the woman was holding a small bundle to her chest protectively, "Jimmy," she said in a soft voice as she looked Kree over, "What have you done?"
"She can help, ma-"
"You have put us in danger! Take her away from here." she said angrily.
"But, mom-"
"Do not argue. This is no one's war but our own."
Jimmy stood there for a minute and finally, he said, "I wasn't the one to bring her here."
That piqued the woman's interest, and she looked at Kree once again, "Who brought you here, dear?"
"Um...no one." Kree said, confused.
"No one...that's impossible." the woman said.
"How...is that impossible?" Kree asked, looking at Jimmy.
"This place was destroyed fifty years ago. It's invisible to those who are alive." Jimmy answered.

Thursday, January 31, 2013

Jimmy followed her and touched her shoulder. Kree gasped. It was a cool sensation of icy fingers, holding her down. It momentarily paralyzed her shoulder, "Please, hear me out. This is important."
Kree slowly turned around and waited for Jimmy to talk again. Her heart was pounding, and she briefly wondered what the eulogy at her funeral would be. Tears started coming to her eyes again.
"Please, don't cry. Have you ever walked on hot, burning coals before?"
Kree looked at him strangely, but slowly shook her head.
"It's a good way to face your fears," Jimmy continued, "We don't have have any coals here, but you have to stand up and face your fears, Kree. We don't always want to, but sometimes it's necessary."
Kree looked into Jimmy's eyes. He looked tired. Years of this torture after death had made their mark, even though he was already dead. Kree didn't want to imagine what it was like to live with such an evil man after death. She slowly nodded her head, "Alright. I will do it. I will help you."
There was relief in Jimmy's eyes, "I knew you would come through."
"Don't get your hopes up yet," Kree warned, "I'm not nearly as strong as you seem to think."
Jimmy looked at her with all seriousness in his eyes, "If you weren't strong enough, you wouldn't have been able to get through these doors. Sometimes, we are a lot stronger than we think we are. Now come on. Let's go look for my dad..."

Tuesday, January 29, 2013

"My family," Jimmy looked up at her, "Since he's here, we have to be here, too."
Kree's heart missed a beat, "Where is your dad?"
Jimmy looked at her, "Missing right now."
"Well, it is a big place," Kree looked around, "But maybe we can go while he is missing."
The boy shook his head vigorously, "It doesn't work that way."
"What do you mean?" Kree was confused.
Jimmy stopped and looked at her, "Have you ever heard about black magic?"
"I'm getting out of here." Kree started running towards the door, and Jimmy followed her. The door was locked.
"You can't get out. You were chosen." the boy said sadly.
"Chosen for what? Some kind of freak fest?" Kree raised her voice as she looked for another escape.
"No one has been here for over ninety years." Jimmy looked at her, expecting some response.
"You've been here for ninety years?" the boy nodded his head slowly, "So...that means you're...dead?!" the last word came out as a squeal.
Jimmy widened his eyes, "Don't freak out!"
"You're...a...ghost." Kree's breaths were coming in short gasps.
"That is correct." Jimmy flinched as if he didn't like the word, "ghost."
"I...I really...um...can't help you. I'm sorry." Kree said as she ran into another room, still looking for another exit.

Saturday, January 26, 2013

This wasn't sounding good. Kree was staying in a cell with the journal of a crazy man.
Tears came to her eyes as the seriousness of the situation finally hit her. She was stuck. There was no way out, and no one could hear her. She was going to rot in this cell all by herself.
She kicked the door one more time out of anger. There was nothing else to do, except read the journal of a crazed killer, and that was definitely not going to improve her mood.
She stopped. She could have sworn she heard a noise down the hall. Was she already being delusional? Was she now part of the insane?
The door slowly opened, and Kree stared at it for a few minutes before exiting. There was a young boy who was about her age, looking at her.
He was deadly pale and had blonde hair with light blue eyes, "Are you here to save me?"
"Save you from what?" Kree asked, even though she was pretty sure she didn't want to know.
"My dad," the boy looked at her for a minute, and then looked straight ahead and sighed, "You have no clue what I'm talking about, do you?"
Kree hesitated for a minuet and then shook her head, "No, I really don't."
"I guess I should start with my name-Jimmy Greene."
"I'm Kree." Kree said simply.
"My dad lives here," Jimmy continued, almost as if she hadn't spoken, "He's holding us hostage here."
"Us?" Kree raised an eyebrow.

Thursday, January 24, 2013

In the last room, on the very top of the insane asylum, there was a book-no, scratch that. It was a journal.
Kree took a step closer and felt air escape her lungs. She walked into the room, and the door slammed behind her!
She screamed and banged the door, but it was all to no avail. The door was locked tight, and the window was barred. Even if the window wasn't barred, it was a straight drop fifteen stories. It was pretty obvious that the only reason why the window had bars was to prevent the occupant from killing him/herself.
Kree was wearing herself down by banging on the door, and she couldn't do it anymore. She slowly sank down into the chair that was in front of the desk.
She stared at the door for a few minutes before she finally turned her attention to the journal. She slowly flipped to the first page, as if she was afraid the book would bite her.

Day 1

They locked me up...again. They think they can just lock me in here like an animal, and I'll never be free. They are wrong...dead wrong.

Kree gulped as she flipped the page.

Day 2

They were stupid enough to send a psychologist in here. They accuse me of killing my family and then send a young, petite psychologist into my room as if they don't realize how blood-thirsty I truly am. What luck-my reward for bad behavior.

Tuesday, January 22, 2013

It had a bell on the left side of the window. There were chairs to the right with an old, worn out coffee table and old magazines that looked like they would fall apart if she dared to touch them.
There was a stairway to the left of the counter, and she slowly walked up the stairs. With each step, it seemed to be getting colder and colder until she could see her breath coming out in short gasps.
She reached the second story. There was an aisle between two rows of cages. She slowly walked down the aisle.
The cages had bars on the windows of the doors, and the doors themselves were made out of steel.
All the doors were open, and Kree noticed that each cage or room had personal items of whoever had lived in it. Kree's heart started pounding. This was an...insane asylum?  That was the only guess she could come up with, but it seemed strange to her that there was insane asylum so close to where she was living. It seemed....out of place.
She walked back to the staircase and climbed all the way to the fifteenth story. By this time, her legs felt like jello.
This floor was exactly like the others, except the aisle was smaller, and there were only four cages. It felt like she was in a tower or an attic.
She walked down to the end of the aisle. There, at the very end, her breath caught in her throat, and chills wouldn't stop running down her spine. Every instinct she had told her to run, but she couldn't. She was rooted to the spot.

Saturday, January 19, 2013

The door squealed as she opened it. It was dim inside with spiderwebs in the corners.
Kree had stepped into a sort of lobby area with a counter right in front of her.

Thursday, January 17, 2013

After work, she start heading home in the dark. She went on to the dirt road, leading to her house, but she stopped in the middle of the road.
She saw the house that had been haunting, not only her dreams, but her daydreams as well. She took a step closer, then stopped. The best way to get over this was to face her fears, right?
Then why did she have the overwhelming sense of danger? She took another step closer, and a cold chill went down her spine. Another step-a strong wind started, and it took all of her strength to keep going.
She made it to the front door. There was no doorbell, just a strong door, daring her to go further. She went further...

Tuesday, January 15, 2013

Kree sighed as she grabbed a handful of CD's and started putting them on the racks.
She was getting a cold chill, and she tried to ignore it as best as she could. She looked around. Everyone else seemed to be comfortable.
Alyssa was too busy flirting with a customer to notice how cold it was in the store.
Kree tried not to look at the door or windows, knowing exactly what she would see. What was happening to her? Was she truly going crazy? She would soon find out, but she wasn't going to like the answer...
Kree went to work for a local CD company. She went behind the counter, where another girl, Alyssa, was stocking the CD's. Alyssa was one of the hottest cheerleaders at the school, and she wasn't afraid to show it. She looked at Kree with disdain before returning to what she was doing, "What's wrong, creep? Seeing things again?" she started giggling as if it was the best joke in the world, and then rolled her eyes, "You don't get it, do you? You will never fit in if you keep acting the way you are."
Kree finally got tired of it and turned around, "You don't get it, do you? Maybe I don't want to fit in if I have to act like you. Did you ever think of that?"
Alyssa looked taken aback and slightly offended, "I was just trying to help, but if you want to remain an outcast and a creep, go right ahead." Alyssa snapped her gum and smiled as she went to help a customer.
Kree shook her head. She was going crazy. She knew it...and now everyone else knew it, too. She slowly sat down in one of the chairs.
She looked at the window and glimpsed the same face she had seen at the creepy house. It disappeared as quickly as it came, and it didn't make her feel any better.
Mr. Bedford came into the classroom and gave them worksheets that they were supposed to do during the detention. Brad decided that he was going to use it to throw spitballs at Kree instead.
She finally got the paper done and handed it in. She practically ran out the door, trying to hide her tears as she did so...

Tuesday, January 8, 2013

Kree was not absorbed whatsoever in what the teacher was saying. She couldn't keep her mind focused, and she couldn't close her eyes, because the same face would appear before her, and it would startle her awake.
One time, she screamed, gained detention, and had most of the class laughing at her. She put her head back into her hands as tears ran down her face. She was ridiculed for that, too.
After school, she went to her history class for detention. The teacher wasn't there, but there was a vapor by the window and strange whispering:
"I'm not insane...
I killed them...
All of them...
and no one can help me now..."
Kree gasped as she stepped back. One of the students, who also had detention, started laughing, "What the hell are you staring at?"

Sunday, January 6, 2013

Kree hated it here. She hated the school, she hated the kids, she hated the three bedroom house that her parents bought. Her job was the only thing that gave her a piece of mind.
"Oh, look, it's the newbie." a girl said as Kree walked by.
Kree sighed, "Here we go again..." she muttered to herself.
Jocks laughed, preps sneered, even nerds pretended that they didn't see her. Kree wasn't invisible, she was much worse. She was outcasted...Outcasted amongst everyone...
The next morning, Kree woke up with a pounding headache. She had not slept well at all. Part of the fact was because of her parents' constant fighting. The other part were the nightmares of the mysterious building on her street.
She took a long hot shower, trying to clear her head and then got ready for school. She was quiet as she was onto the bus and sat down in the back.
She felt sick-almost like she wasn't even in her own body.
The bus stopped in front of the school, and Kree stepped out.

Tuesday, January 1, 2013

Lily stood up like she was going to go check on Kree, but Chris stood up quickly, "Just relax. I'll go check on her."
Lily was tight-lipped as she sat back down. Chris walked to the back room, where Kree's room was. She was laying down, staring up at the ceiling. She didn't say a word when Chris sat down.
Chris was silent for awhile, and finally, Kree broke the silence, "You and mom both think I'm crazy."
"That's not true," Chris objected, "I just think you need to give this place more time."
"I'm trying, dad! We've only been here for two months, and I'm already 'seeing things.'" Kree turned over, so Chris couldn't see her face.
Chris could see that this was going nowhere. He slowly stood up and left her bedroom. This move might have been the worst mistake of his life...
