Finally, Jacob stopped dead in his tracks, and I almost ran into him. He pointed to a mountain in the distance.
I took this moment to stop and put my hands on my knees to breathe while I looked at where he was pointing. Fire was coming out of the mountain, and it look like an..."Erupting volcano!" my voice squeaked.
"It's not erupting," there was laughter in Jacob's voice, and my face face flushed with embarrassment, "It just looks that way to scare off people."
"Oh." I looked at the mountain again as I slowly stood up to my full height.
Shawn was quiet as always, but I was no longer feeling alarmed. He was just an obsessive idiot.
Jacob started walking again. Of course, me and Shawn followed him. It wasn't until we got to the foot of the mountain that I noticed that I noticed that Shawn was gone. "Where is Shawn?" I asked, looking around us.
Jacob looked around also, but then he shrugged his shoulders, "Could be he got tired of following us around like a lost puppy, or maybe he got lost. We will keep an eye out for him.
I will always wish that we hadn't underestimated Shawn the way that we had...
